Our History
Kigezi High School is a church founded, government sponsored, mixed boarding and day secondary school in Uganda. Kigezi High school is located at Rugarama hill, Kabale District, Western Uganda.

The missionaries founded Kigezi High School in 1922 as an elementary school. In 1946 it changed its name to Junior Secondary School, and in 1965 it became Senior Secondary School. It was designed to impart in the students both Christian and academic ideals. It has generated numerous graduates who hold top management positions and other positions in a variety of professions around the world. In the worldwide and digital world we currently live in, it is intended that the school would serve as the hub of learning. The goal of Kigezi High School is to provide students with a top-notch education and Christian principles so that they would be committed to serving both God and humanity. Kigezi High School also aspires to be a top institution in Uganda in terms of both academics and extracurricular activities. A school farm, a basketball court, a football field, a netball court, a library, an ICT lab, a home economics lab, a basketball court, and other amenities are all available at Kigezi High School. The Kigezi High School offers a variety of clubs, including those for drama, interact, scriptural union, debating, and tourism. Prof Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile(RIP), the former governor of the Bank of Uganda, Rt.Hon.DR.Ruhakana Rugunda, Prof.Augustus Nuwagaba, Dr.Kiiza Besigye, Rt.Hon.Amama Mbabazi, Hon.DR.Abed Bwanika, and DR.Gilbert Mateeka (DHO-Kable) among others, are just a few of the notable individuals who attended Kigezi High School.

I consider it an honor to be invited to send the Kigezi High School Jubilee Committee a few words of congratulations and to wish them well as they commemorate the school's 50 years of contributing to the growth of the Kigezi District. My wife and I, along with Dr. and Mrs. Sharp, spent the first year in Kabale in 1921 settling in, starting the medical work, and assisting in the expansion of the evangelization mission across the District. Therefore, it didn't fall to my lot to begin with the instructional aspect of the task until 1922. The first step was to summon Mr. Edward Kaguhala's government agents, the chiefs, and elders of Kigezi to present a proposal to them regarding the establishment of a residential school for boys. They enthusiastically endorsed the concept, and on February 2nd, 1922, the school opened with eleven boys and a Muganda Master serving as their instructor.
